I picked up some sort of nasty virus almost 2 weeks ago and am just now beginning to resume  semi - normal functioning ;-)

I think I might have missed something?  Oh yeah ...

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to All !

Well I guess it's time to admit that I've been unemployed for a year.

I was shocked at first, but it's actually for the best. My work was making me crazy and affecting my health. Although we are now on a tight budget, we have good food, and are not in danger of losing our home, so there is no reason for anyone to worry. Oddly enough, in some ways, I'm actually better off now than I was a year ago ;-)

It must be nice to have money.

Oh yes, I really do realize  that I'm lucky to  be employed and have a little bit of money to spend -but I want more and I want to complain about it ;-)

I want  to go to a store and tell the salesperson: "I want a computer/camera/cellphone etc. that can do x, y and z ".  The sales person recommends a model and I buy it.

That would be so nice ;-)

However, with me it usually comes down to looking at how much money I have, and then discovering that the product  that experts recommend costs twice what I can pay.  So then I try to figure out what the absolute minimum needed capabilities of the device have to be in order to do what I think I want to do. Then I look for sales, discounted and used items. I end up spending a little more than I wanted to, but think I got a good buy.

But of course 6 months later  I realize my cheaper compromise sort of works,  but is frustrating because it doesn't work quite right ,  and  if I could only have spent just a little bit more I could have had something that is truly satisfying.

I am whining (whinging for the Brits) about computers!

My wife and I have two computers. She just mostly reads fan fiction on LJ  ;-) so any decent computer makes her happy, but her old tired friend is acting worn out, and  is getting ready to retire. It's time for me to buy a new machine and give her my pretty good older one. I want something for me that can handle photo and 3D graphics pretty well. Not a super expensive, screaming, high end gamer computer, just a good quality, upper mid range, sort of lower end semi gamer computer. As usual, I don't have enough money. So I've spent 2 1/2 weeks compulsively searching the internet for the  "refurbished" or ebay special that will cost a little more than I want to spend , so that I can find the computer that's almost good enough,  so I can be disappointed when I bring it home ;-)

My wonderful wife has been watching this process, wants me to be happy, and has found a way to make the budget work so I can spend just a little bit more and get something that  should be able to do the graphic things I want to do decently well, and "decently well"  would be so nice ;-)

My wonderful lady is the best ever -  I'm in Love!

I hope everyone reading this are doing well.

Sometimes I get so obsessed with other things that I forget to check into LJ.  I think that it's been a couple of weeks and it turns out to be months instead.  I don't want to lose touch with the people I've met here ,so maybe if I just start making the occaisional  small post. In the past I seemed to think that if I didn't have something important to say I wouldn't  bother saying anything ;-)

I haven't been feeling well these last few weeks (not too serious) and haven't had much energy for the holidays. I had intended to send  LJ friends virtual holiday gifts but I  just didn't  get around ti it ;-(

Well I hope you all had  wonderful holidays and Happy 3 Kings Day to everyone!

I was at the bookstore and came across The Handy Box of Knots. It's a box in the shape of a book, with printing and drawings that look like a book. Inside the box is a smaller book * and * 4 pieces of sample rope!   I just had to buy it, as an early Christmas  gift to myself !

Knots are important to sailing, camping , packaging and toting.  It's  also liberating to know the classic retro ways to secure things without being dependent on velcro ;-)

My interest in knots would have nothing at all to do with Bettie Page.
Nope, not at all ;-)

A couple days ago I noticed that I was feeling happy, then I thought about and realized, no I'm not feeling happy, I'm feeling "content." I haven't felt relaxed and content in a long while.

The job is improving,I'm cleaning out my storage/junk closet, my wife and I are relating better than we have in a while, and we just quietly celebrated our 27th anniversary. Stuff is good ;-)
This is supposed to be a sex journal, or at least a sexual journal ;-) But, since I want to honor my wife's desire to be private, I don't talk about that other that to say things are getting better. So I end up not writing much at all.

Maybe I should just write about plain old stuff like a certain unnamed but prolific person on my LJ friend's list does ;-)

so here goes ...

I was sick last week. I drove home, exhausted, and fell on the bed. Hours later I woke up and realized I didn't know where my driving glasses were. Well, I didn't worry, figured I'd find them when I started feeling better. Guess what? They're still gone ;-) How I did that I don't know -talent I guess ;-)

I'm going to take the garbage out later, maybe I'll write that up in this journal too!
